Beirut, 1982. La ciudad se prepara para el primer partido del Mundial de fútbol. Mientras, una joven atraviesa la ciudad escuchando música y encuentra una casa abandonada con fragmentos del pasado. Su recorrido, al igual que la transmisión deportiva, se verá interrumpido por una breve pero intensa interferencia que sacude a la ciudad.
Tshweesh va hilando pequeñas historias que se vislumbran en las terrazas de los edificios a la vez que realiza una lúdica articulación entre imagen y banda sonora.
Con un cuidadoso tratamiento del sonido y una excelente composición visual, Feyrouz Serhal construye un relato de intenso dramatismo, un potente retrato de los ritmos urbanos que ha desarrollado la ciudad y sus habitantes, en un contexto donde la violencia súbita parece haberse incorporado a su compás cotidiano.

Beirut, 1982. The city is gearing up for the first match of the World Cup. At the same time, a young woman goes across the city while she listens to music and comes across an abandoned house where there are fragments of the past. Her tour, as well as the television broadcast, will be interrupted by a brief but intense interference that shakes up the town.
Tshweesh is a collection of small stories that can be seen at a glance on the terraces of the buildings, as well as a playful articulation between image and sound design.
Through a thorough sound design and excellent visual composition, Feyrouz Serhal builds a narrative of intense drama, a powerful portrait of urban rhythms a city and its inhabitants have nurtured within a context where erupting violence seems to have made its way into the daily beat.

Feyrouz Serhal obtuvo su maestría en Estudios de la Pantalla y el Cine en Goldsmiths College (Universidad de Londres) luego de largas estancias como directora y productora en algunos de los canales de televisión árabes más prominentes de la zona. También escribió y dirigió varios cortos independientes en video. Su primer cortometraje de ficción, Tshweesh, se estrenó en Locarno en 2017. Actualmente se encuentra desarrollando I Am Here but You Can’t See Me, su primer largometraje como directora.

Feyrouz Serhal acquired her master’s degree in Film and Screen Studies at Goldsmiths College University of London, after having worked extensively as director and producer at some of the most prominent Arab TV channels in the Middle East. She has also written and directed several independent short video works. Her first short fiction film Tshweesh premiered in Locarno in 2017. Serhal is now in development of I Am Here but You Can’t See Me, her first feature film as director.
