Mounir quiere que todos le admiren, pero su hermana Rym, que se duerme en cualquier sitio, es la risa de todo el pueblo. Una noche, Mounir anuncia en la plaza que un rico hombre extranjero le ha pedido la mano de Rym. Todos le envidian. Atrapado por su mentira, cambiará el destino de los suyos sin habérselo propuesto.
Mounir would like everybody to admire him, but all the village makes fun of his sister Rym, who falls asleep everywhere. One night, Mounir announces that a rich man has asked his sister to marry him. Everybody starts to envy him. He finally ends up getting caught in his own lie and he will see the destiny of his relatives change without having done it on purpose.
LYES SALEM
Nacido en Argel en 1973, Lyes Salem es un actor, guionista y director franco-argelino. Estudió Letras Modernas en la Universidad de la Sorbonne de París antes de entrar a la escuela del Teatro Nacional de Chaillot y después al Conservatorio nacional superior de arte dramático. Actuó en varias obras de teatro y en cine y televisión, aparece en películas de Maurice Failevic, Benoit Jacquot y Hamid Krim. Dirige su primer cortometraje en 1999, Lhasa y en 2002, con Jean-Fares recibe el premio al Mejor Cortometraje del Festival de Cine Africano de Milán. En 2008 dirige Mascarades, su primer largometraje.
Lyes Salem, born in Algiers in 1973, is a French-Algerian actor, screenwriter and director. He studied Modern Languages and Literature at the Paris-Sorbonne University before attending the Chaillot National Theatre School and the French National Academy of Dramatic Arts. As an actor he has worked in theatre, television and films, with filmmakers such as Maurice Failevic, Benoit Jacquot and Hamid Krim. Salem directed his first short film, Lhasa, in 1999, and his short Jean-Fares was awarded the Best Short Film at Milan’s African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival in 2002. Masquerades (2008) is his first feature film.
