Un desparejo par de inmigrantes de Sri Lanka que se ha tornado inseparable, aunque no por elección, trabaja aseando los sanitarios públicos alrededor de una mezquita. Inseparable, though not exactly by choice, an unlikely duo of Sri Lankan immigrants works together as cleaners of the washroom neighbouring a mosque. Silent but whimsical, Sajid spends his days napping and praying (in that order) on the plush carpets of the mosque and playing pranks on visitors by “accidentally” splashing water on them. It’s never deliberate when he drags down the more balanced, intelligent Razzak, who looks after him like an older brother. He gets bored, wants more, and is consequently perpetually in need of being bailed out.
Karem Kamel es un cineasta neoyorkino de origen egipcio. Estudió Cine en el Hunter College, donde debutó como director con el cortometraje Lucky Night, que contó con la participación de una joven Lady Gaga. Ha trabajado para la cadena ABC y el Instituto Sundance, donde colaboró con varios talleres que el instituto ofrece en los veranos. Su corto más reciente, The BACKyard, se estrenó en el Big Apple Film Festival de Nueva York. Kamel también trabajó en la Universidad de Columbia, y actualmente, en el Instituto de Cine de Doha.
Karem Kamel is an Egyptian-American filmmaker native of New York City. He studied film at Hunter College, where he made his directorial debut with the short film Lucky Night, featuring a young Lady Gaga. He has held positions at ABC and the Sundance Film Institute, where he was involved in various workshops at the Institute’s Summer Labs. His most recent short, The BACKyard, premiered at New York’s Big Apple Film Festival. Kamel has also worked at Columbia University, and he currently works at the Doha Film Institute.
