BEFORE THE SUMMER CORWDS | ANTES DE LA MUCHEDUMBRE DE VERANO

Antes de que el verano comience oficialmente en un complejo vacacional de playa, los caminos de un grupo de gente se cruzan, atravesando las complejidades del amor, los celos, la lujuria y la desilusión. Cinco personajes son los únicos habitantes del complejo en esa época del año: Yehia y Magda, una pareja de doctores de cuarenta años; Hala, una bella divorciada de la misma edad que visita el complejo para encontrarse con su amante Hesham, un actor de segunda que la usa por su dinero y su belleza; y Gomaa, un joven del Alto Egipto que acaba de finalizar su servicio militar y está sustituyendo a su hermano, que es quien vigila el centro y se ocupa de las necesidades de los huéspedes. Before the summer officially begins at a seaside resort, a group of people crosses paths going through the complexities of love, jealousy, lust and disappointment. Five characters are the only inhabitants of the resort during that time of the year: Yehia and Magda, a forty-year-old couple of doctors; Hala, a beautiful forty-year-old divorcee who visits the resort to meet up with her lover Hesham, A B-list actor who uses her for her money and beauty; and Gomaa, a young man from Upper Egypt who recently completed his military service and is filling in for his brother guarding the resort and taking care of the needs of the cabins' residents. The four characters live amidst emotions of lust, sex, jealousy and desperation. Gomaa watches it all and views them in a way they don’t even realise.

Desde 1971 Mohamed Khan fue uno de los cineastas más destacados tanto en el ámbito cinematográfico egipcio como en el árabe. Con un repertorio de más de veinticinco películas, su trabajo recibió más de treinta permios y reconocimientos internacionales. Entre 1962 y 1963 Khan estudió Cine en la que supo ser la London School of Film Technique, hoy Escuela de Cine de Londres. Se unió al departamento de guionistas de la Egyptian General Company for International Film Production en 1963, antes de mudarse a Beirut, donde trabajó como asistente de dirección hasta 1966. También fue un autor publicado; con dos títulos prominentes como Una introducción al cine egipcio (Londres, 1969) y Outline of Czechoslovakian Cinema (Londres, 1971).

Since 1971 Mohamed Khan cemented his role as a salient director in the Egyptian and Arab filmmaking scenes. With a rich repertoire of more than twenty-five films, his works received over thirty international awards and recognitions. Between 1962 and 1963, Khan studied filmmaking at London School of Film Technique (nowadays known as The London Film School). He joined the script department at the General Egyptian Company in 1963 before he moved to Beirut, where he worked as assistant director from 1963 to 1966. As a book author, Khan had under his belt two books; namely An Introduction to the Egyptian Cinema (London, 1969) and Outline of Czechoslovakian Cinema (London, 1971).
