SINOPSIS

Ali y Naser son dos jóvenes árabes, un sirio y un palestino respectivamente. Basados en la ciudad turca de Edirne, ayudan a refugiados cruzar la frontera hacia Grecia. Recientemente, la mayoría de estos refugiados han sido sirios. Las autoridades europeas trabajan duro para patrullar la frontera, debido a lo que este tráfico humano se torna cada vez más peligroso y complicado. Los directores Tuna Kaptan y Felicitas Sonvilla siguen a estos dos hombres de cerca mientras pasan el tiempo en su departamento fumando, charlando acerca de sus familias en casa, y preparan sus misiones para sacar a sus clientes de Turquía. La cámara también los acompaña a un viaje a la frontera. Por último, todo luce bastante desesperanzador para ambos hombres y sus clientes, ya que cada vez menos refugiados logran llegar a Grecia.

Ali and Naser are two young Arabs, a Syrian and a Palestinian respectively. Based in the Turkish city of Edirne, they help refugees cross the border into Greece. Recently, most of these refugees have been from Ali's native Syria. European authorities are working hard to patrol the border, making it more dangerous and complicated for Ali and Nasser to cater to their clients’ needs. Filmmakers Tuna Kaptan and Felicitas Sonvilla follow the two men from close up as they hang around their apartment, smoke, chat about their families at home, and prepare their missions to get their clients out of Turkey. The camera also accompanies them on a trip to the border. Ultimately, it all looks pretty abysmal for both the men and their clients alike, as far fewer of these refugees are making it into Greece.

BIOGRAFÍA

Tuna Kaptan nació de padres turcos en Munich. Graduado con un diploma en Artes en Medios, Teatro y Estudios Romances; adquirió experiencia en varios proyectos fílmicos y teatrales en Alemania, Argentina, Burkina Faso, Túnez y Turquía. Desde el 2010 ha estado estudiando dirección de cine en la University of Television and Film en Munich. Su última película, Two at the border, recibió una nominación al mejor documental estudiantil en el IDFA Amsterdam en 2013. Actualmente es alumno en la escuela de cine ENERC en Buenos Aires.

Tuna Kaptan was born of Turkish parentage in Munich. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Theatre and Romance Studies, he gained experience in numerous film and theatre projects in Germany, Argentina, Burkina Faso, Tunisia and Turkey. Since 2010 he’s studying film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich. His last film Two at the Border received a nomination for Best Student Documentary at IDFA Amsterdam 2013. Currently, he's a scholar at ENERC Film School in Buenos Aires.

Felicitas Sonvilla nació en 1988 en Viena, Austria. Luego de obtener su diploma en Artes en Films y Estudios de Medios en 2010, comenzó a estudiar Dirección de Documentales en la University of Film And Television Munich ese mismo año. En 2011 dirigió Raumstation, un corto documental que ganó una Mención Especial del Jurado en el Les Écrans Documentaires Festival. Su primer cortometraje, Space Station, fue exhibido en varios festivales alrededor del mundo y fue presentado dentro del marco “Next Generation Short Tiger" en Cannes. En 2013, co-fundó el colectivo fílmico Storymotel. Desde 2013 ha sido una estudiante becada del la Deutsche Studienstiftung.

Felicitas Sonvilla was born 1988 in Vienna, Austria. After obtaining a Bachelor of the Arts in Film and Media Studies in 2010, she started studying Documentary Film Directing at the University of Film And Television Munich the same year. In 2011 she directed Raumstation, a short documentary which won the Special Jury Mention at Les Écrans Documentaires Festival. Her first short film Space Station was shown at various festivals around the world and got presented within the framework of "Next Generation Short Tiger" in Cannes. In 2013 she co-founded the film collective Storymotel. Since 2013 she has been a scholarship student of the Deutsche Studienstiftung.
