SINOPSIS

Guerra del Golfo de 1991: Ibrahim, soldado iraquí, escapa de Kuwait cuando el ejército se retira, pero es capturado por la Guardia Republicana y echado en las prisiones infames de Saddam bajo sospecha de traición. Pero mientras el destino de Ibrahim parece ineludible, el pueblo iraquí se está levantando más allá de las paredes de la prisión, instaurando fe entre los cautivos. 2013: En busca de respuestas, el director confronta a tres sobrevivientes de la revuelta: un fotógrafo con un doloroso secreto, un campesino que oculta sus heridas para olvidar y un ex prisionero que ha sido despojado de su humanidad. 1991 Gulf War: Ibrahim, an Iraqi soldier, has escaped from Kuwait as the army retreats, but he is captured by the Republican Guard and cast into Saddam’s infamous prisons suspected of treachery. But as Ibrahim’s fate seems written, the Iraqi people are uprising beyond the prison walls, instilling hope in those held captive. 2013. In search of answers, the director of the film confronts three survivors of the uprising: A photographer with a painful secret, a farmer who hides his scars to forget, and an ex-prisoner whose humanity was savagely taken from him.
By unravelling the courageous and tragic secrets of these survivors, the Director seeks to reveal the truth behind Ibrahim's journey. Through the past and the present, fiction and realty, he revisits a fateful climax in the killing fields of Babylon.

BIOGRAFÍA

Mohmed nació en 1978 en Bagdad y estudió producción de cine y televisión en la Media Academy en Hilversum previo a partir para el Reino Unido para realizar dos másteres. En 2005, co-fundó Human Film, una compañía productora con base en el Reino Unido y Holanda. En 2010, Mohamed gana el premio Asia Pacific Screen Academy Award al mejor documental por In My Mother’s Arms, exhibido en LATINARAB 2012. Comenzó a trabajar en In the Sands of Babylon, pieza que acompaña la aclamada Son of Babylon, también proyectado en LATINARAB 2011, en el año 2013. Actualmente; desde Baghdad, donde vive y trabaja, se encuentra desarrollando su próxima ficción: The Train Station.

Born in Baghdad in 1978, Mohamed studied Film and Television Production at the Media Academy in Hilversum before travelling to the UK to complete two Master’s degrees. In 2005 he co-founded Human Film, a UK & Netherlands based feature film Production Company.
In 2010 Mohamed won the Asia Pacific Screen Academy Award for best Documentary for In My Mother’s Arms, also screened at LATINARAB. He began work on In the Sands of Babylon; a companion piece to the critically acclaimed Son of Babylon, in 2013. Now residing in and working from Baghdad, Mohamed is currently in development with his next fiction film The Train Station.
