SINOPSIS

My Love Awaits Me by the Sea es un poético documental que narra la historia de la directora, quien se embarca por primera vez en un viaje de vuelta a su tierra natal: Palestina. Deja atrás una realidad solitaria y va detrás de un amante a quien nunca ha conocido, Hasan, un artista palestino que descubre un mundo bello y utópico. Los cuentos de hadas y la realidad se entretejen para preguntar sobre lugares elusivos y la necesidad de creer en los sueños.

My Love Awaits Me by the Sea is a poetic documentary narrating the story of the director who takes a first time journey back to her homeland, Palestine. She leaves a secluded reality and follows a lover whom she has never met, Hasan, a Palestinian artist who discovers a beautiful and utopian world. Fairytale and reality are woven together to ask the question about the elusive place and the need to believe in dreams.

BIOGRAFÍA

Luego de haber trabajado alrededor del medio oriente en arquitectura, diseño gráfico y documentales televisivos, la carrera como realizadora de Mais Darwazah comenzó al realizar cortos experimentales. Completó un máster en Dirección Documental en la Edingburgh College of Art. Su film de colación fue exhibido en numerosos festivales internacionales de cine. Realizó The Dinner como parte de un largometraje documental colectivo árabe en 2012. Su primer filme My Love Awaits Me by the Sea se estrenó en el Toronto International Film Festival y desde entonces ha sido premiado en festivales de cine internacionales. Vive y trabaja en Jordania.

Having worked across the Middle East in architecture, graphic design and television documentaries, Mais Darwazah’s independent film career started by making short experimental films. She completed an MA in Documentary Directing at Edinburgh College of Art thanks to being awarded with the Chevening Scholarship. Her graduation film was screened in numerous international film festivals. She completed The Dinner as part of an Arab feature documentary collective in 2012. Her first feature My Love Awaits Me by the Sea had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and has since been awarded by several international film festivals. She resides and works in Jordan.
