SINOPSIS

They are The Dogs cuenta la historia de Majhoul, un anciano que fue sustraído durante una manifestación masiva que reclamaba reformas y cambios en el reino en 1981. Liberado en 2011 ─30 años más tarde─ ha aceptado la nueva realidad de las cosas, la evolución de la sociedad y la tecnología; así como también su lugar en esta "nueva" situación. Asimismo; un equipo de filmación compuesto por un periodista, un operador y un pasante cruzarán caminos con Majhoul, poniendo a la búsqueda de su familia y consecuentemente la reconstrucción de su vida en el "ahora" como sujeto del film y como objetivo mutuo.

They are the dogs tells the story of Majhoul, an old man that was taken away in 1981 during a massive demonstration asking for reforms and change in the kingdom. He was released in 2011, 30 years later, and has to come to terms with the new reality of things, the evolution of society and technology as well as his place among this “new” state of things. Also, a filming team composed of a journalist, an operator and an intern will cross path with Majhoul, making his quest of finding his family and therefore rebuilding a life in the “now” the subject of a film piece and a mutual goal.

BIOGRAFÍA

Nació en Casabalanca en 1977. Primero estudió leyes, pero abandonó su vida de estudiante para convertirse en narrador de historias. Conoció al director y productor marroquí Nabil Ayouch a principios de los años 2000 y fue él quien produjo la mayoría de sus cortos y largometrajes (Géométrie du remords, 2002; Ali J'nah Freestyle, 2004 y Jardin des Rides, 2005). They are The Dogs es el segundo largometraje de Hisham y fue seleccionado por la Asociación para la Difusión de Cine Independiente (ACID, de acuerdo con sus siglas en francés) del festival de Cannes en 2013.

Hicham Lasri was born in Casablanca in 1977. He first studied Law, but he left his student life to become a story teller. He met the Moroccan director and producer Nabil Ayouch in the early 2000s and he produced most of his short feature films and long feature film (Géométrie du remords 2002, Ali J'nah Freestyle 2004, Jardin des Rides 2005). They are the dogs is the second long feature film of Hicham Lasri. It was selected in the ACID in Cannes 2013.
