FUEGO SOBRE EL MARMARA | FIRE ON THE MARMARA

El documental aborda la masacre del Mavi Marmara ocurrida el 31 de mayo 2010. Además denuncia el ataque a la prensa, más de 40 medios fueron censurados, secuestrados, maltratados, encarcelados y robados por realizar su trabajo. La existencia de medios como TeleSUR, Al Jazeera o Press TV permitió que el mundo supiera qué estaba pensando. Fuego sobre el Marmara cuenta la historia de la Flotilla desde el punto de vista de los periodistas y activistas participantes. Reconstruye la historia del asesinato del periodista Cevdet. Trata de entender los por qué del compromiso de los sobrevivientes. Trata de entender el ciclo de violencia e investiga los diferentes puntos oscuros de la historia.

The documentary addresses the massacre that affected the Mavi Marmara on May 31, 2010 and denounces the attack to the press. Over 40 people from media were victims of censorship, physical abuse, imprisonment and robbery just for doing their job. TV networks like TeleSUR, AL Jazeera and Press TV allowed people from around the world to see what was going on. Fire on the Marmara tells the story of the ship from the point of view of journalists and activists. It reconstructs the story of the murder of journalist Cevdet. It tries to understand the reasons of the survivors commitment. It tries to understand the cycle of violence and investigates the different unclear parts of the story.

DAVID SEGARRA nace en 1976 en Valencia (España). Reportero autodidacta, fue uno de los fundadores del diario valenciano L’Avanç. Era antiestablishment. Viaja luego a Caracas “para informar de primera mano” sobre Latinoamérica y crea la productora Guarataro. Siempre se dedicó a asuntos espinosos, desde 2008 dirige Carimba, marcada en mi piel. Enjambre, las reglas han cambiado. Un golpe y una carta. Y “Fuego sobre el Mármara”. La Flotilla a Gaza desde dentro ya que fue uno de los tres españoles sobrevivientes del ataque de Israel a un grupo de civiles que navegaban rumbo a Gaza en un viaje solidario.

DAVID SEGARRA was born in Valencia, Spain in 1976. Auto-taught reporter, was one of the founders of L’Avanç – Valencia newspaper. It was antiestablishment. Then travels to Caracas “ to inform first-hand” on Latin America and founds Guarataro Production company.
