Death for Sale 

Tetuán, ciudad portuaria en el norte de Marruecos. Tres amigos deciden robar una joyería. Son parte de la población desesperadamente desempleada del interior de Marruecos, ladrones comunes a los ojos de la mayoría. Ellos ven el golpe como un medio para romper un ciclo de pobreza que pesa sobre su destino como una cadena
perpetua. Malik, un joven de 26 años de edad, está enamorado de Dunia, una bailarina de cabaret. Él quiere el capital inicial para ayudar a rescatarla y crear juntos un nuevo futuro. Allal, el más duro de los tres, necesita el dinero para poder entrar en el negocio local de las drogas y dejar de robar carteras. Soufi ane, el más joven del grupo, tiene sus propios motivos para querer matar al dueño de la joyería. Pero el plan sale mal y escinde el destino de los tres. 

Tetouan, the Atlantic port city in the north of Morocco. Three young men decide to rob a jewelery store. They are among the hopelessly unemployed street population of Morocco's provincial cities, common thugs in the eyes of many but bound by solidarity and friendship. They see the heist as a means to break out of a cycle of poverty that
weighs on their destiny like a life sentence. Malik, a dashing 26-year-old man, is in love with Dounia, a cabaret dancer. He wants start-up capital to help rescue her from a life of prostitution and make a new future for them as a couple. Allal, the toughest of the three, wants fast cash to stake a solid entry into the business of drug-muggling. Impish highschool dropout Soufi ane, the young est of the group, has his own motives for wanting to kill the jewelery store owner. But the plan goes awry and the men's destinies splinter.

FAOUZI BENSAÏDI, en 1997, luego de haber trabajado en teatro como director y actor, dirigió su primer cortometraje titulado "The Cliff "(El acantilado), el cual ganó 23 premios en festivales en Francia y en el exterior. En 1999, coescribió el guión para la película de André Téchiné, Far (Lejos). En el 2000, dirigió dos cortometrajes: “The Wall” (El muro), que ganó un premio en el Festival de Cine de Cannes, y “The Rain Line” (La línea de lluvia), que ganó un premio en el Festival de Cine de Venecia. En 2003, su primer largometraje “A Thousand Months” (Mil meses), ganó dos premios en Cannes y fue distribuido a más de una docena de países. En 2006, su segundo largometraje “What a wonderful world” (Qué maravilloso mundo ) fue seleccionado para los “Venice Days” (Jornadas de Autores) en el Festival de Cine de Venecia y fue distribuido a Francia, Bélgica, Suiza, Noruega, Alemania, Dinamarca ... y continúa yendo a otros festivales.

FAOUZI BENSAÏDI, 39 years old, after having worked in theater as a director and an actor, he directed his fi rst short fi lm in 1997, ‘The Cliff ’, which won 23 prizes in festivals in France and abroad. In 1999, he co-wrote the script for André Téchiné’s fi lm, ‘Far’. In 2000, he directed two short fi lms: ‘The Wall’, which won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival and ‘The Rain Line’, which won a prize the Venice Film Festival. In 2003, his fi rst feature fi lm ‘A Thousand Months’ , won two prizes in Cannes and was distributed in over a dozen countries. In 2006, his second feature ‘What a wonderful world’ was selected for « Venice Days » in the Venice Film Festival and was distributed in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Germany, Denmark…and continues to go to festivals.
